Guatemala 2014

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you so much for supporting Joshua’s mission trip experiences throughout the last couple of years. Those experiences have led him to pursue a calling in Youth Ministry after high school. After much consideration, Joshua has decided to head back to Guatemala this year … This time, however, Kevin and Hannah are going along as well. It will be an incredible opportunity to serve as a family on the foreign mission field and render aid to people that are much less fortunate than us.

We will be going with The Rising, the high school ministry of Northside Christian Church, March 23 – 29, which is our local high school’s Spring Break. Our team will work with Casas por Cristo to help build a house for an impoverished Guatemalan family. A complete house can be constructed from start to finish in only one week! Since a team of 16-25 people can build a house, hopefully Northside can build 2-3 houses! Casas por Cristo relies on the labor and resources of full time staff missionaries, a board of over 100 pastors and community leaders from Juárez and Acuña, México and San Raimundo, Guatemala, and nearly 7,000 annual volunteers from across North America. Through these cross-cultural partnerships, volunteer teams are presented with an amazing opportunity to build a home for a family in need. Our trip to Guatemala is an intense trip with opportunities for serving families. We will come up with ways to engage all age groups in the community. This trip will be an opportunity to partner in the work that is already being done in Guatemala, to provide shelter, to love those who don’t know love, and to bring the hope of Christ to the hopeless.

We would like to take this opportunity to ask you to join us on the trip with your financial and/or prayer support. The cost for all three of us to go is $3000. While that is a lot of money, you know as well as we do that if God lays something this big on our hearts we should not let anything block that path. As with any mission trip, your support is a vital component to us serving in Guatemala. To support us financially, Click Here to give online. Just click on “Make a Payment” and type one of our names in the “Mission Trip Participant” line. Your online sponsorship will go directly towards our trip accounts, and you will be credited for your tax‐deductible contribution. If you choose not to give online, you may make a check payable to Northside Christian Church and on the memo line, write the trip location and one of our names (recent tax laws allow this). Then, please mail that check directly to us. Just e-mail us at one of the addresses below and we'll send you our address. We will then submit your donation to the church.

If you have prayed about supporting us financially and would love to help, but just can’t fit it into your budget, we understand. While financial support is so greatly needed, there is a bigger need for prayers. Whether you can afford to financially support our trip or not, prayer support is the most important thing we could ask for.

Finally, we want to make sure that you are part of our Guatemalan experience. You can visit http://www.mynorthside.com/guatemala or http://www.casasporcristo.org/ to further research any aspects of our trip. If you would like to talk to us personally you can send us a message on Facebook any time before or after the trip. Also, feel free to email us at the addresses below with any questions you have. We will do our best to answer anything we can for you. Thank you for your support. We cannot express how grateful we are for each and every one of you.

Thanks again and God bless,

Kevin (kevin.becht@gmail.com)
